- Gradual movement: you wear each aligner for around one to two weeks. As you change to the next in the series, your teeth are nudged a little closer to their planned position.
- Attachments where needed: for some movements, small tooth-coloured bumps (attachments) are added to certain teeth to give the aligners something to grip, so they can guide more complex movements.
Because the force is light and continuous rather than sudden, teeth move steadily and most people find the process comfortable, aside from some pressure or tenderness when they start a new aligner.
